Description
Designed by Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee of the architectural firm Johnston Marklee for Knoll, the Biboni sofa in open composition transposes into the living room space this spatial intelligence that makes the singularity of the entire collection, articulating volumes, hollows and curves with a precision and sensitivity that evoke more the work of an architect than that of a furniture designer. Its scalloped silhouette and bespoke tailoring give it a formality and timelessness close to those of a Chesterfield, this absolute reference of the sofa of character, revisited here with a subtle humor and modernity that belong only to Johnston Marklee. In its Stellium Midnight Teal finish, it displays a remarkable chromatic depth, this dark and iridescent green that captures light differently depending on the angle and time of day, animating the scalloped silhouette with a play of shadows and reflections that continually reveals new details in its form. Its deep sitting accommodates a variety of postures, from the straightest sitting position to the most complete abandonment, while its precisely placed volutes envelop and support the body with a generosity that always surprises. Its discreet feet set back from the ground visually lighten a room whose sculptural presence is nevertheless undeniable, making it particularly striking when it floats freely in space, away from the walls, fully assuming its status as a centerpiece around which everything else is naturally organized.
