Pendant Light STEMLITE Pebble Grey GUBI

Created in 1962 by designer Bill Curry, Stemlite represented a new type of lighting fixture, replacing the traditional lamp consisting of a base and a shade with an all-in-one piece featuring interchangeable modules. Now reissued by Gubi, nearly half a century later, the collection, faithful to the original design, includes two table lamps, two floor lamps and a pendant lamp, in a palette of colours that are both contemporary and authentic. With a background in aerospace, Bill Curry captured the spirit of 1960s and 1970s America, from the space race to pop trends, when he set up his own studio in Los Angeles in 1962, Design Line. He then imagined new standards, made possible by emerging technologies, and designed innovative, bold and colourful lighting collections suited to a new era. The Stemlite collection is inspired by flower stems, which are both slender and sturdy. The luminaire has a cast metal base, reminiscent of a tulip stem, on which a blown glass globe is mounted. Thanks to its visual consistency, the Stemlite collection allows different luminaire models to be combined in residential, communal or commercial spaces. The organic shape of the luminaires fits equally well in bold, modern interiors and more classic environments.
