Floor Lamp STEMLITE Pebble grey GUBI

Created in 1962 by designer Bill Curry, Stemlite represented a new type of lighting, replacing the traditional lamp made up of a base and a shade with an all-in-one piece comprising interchangeable modules. Now reissued by Gubi, almost half a century later, the collection, faithful to the original design, includes two table lamps, two floor lamps and a suspension lamp, in a colour palette that is both contemporary and authentic. With a history in aerospace, Bill Curry captured the spirit of America from the 1960s and 1970s, from space conquests to pop trends, when he set up his own studio, Design Line, in Los Angeles in 1962. He then envisioned new standards, made possible by emerging technologies, and designed innovative, bold, and colourful lamp collections to suit a new era. The Stemlite collection is inspired by flower stems, both slender and robust. The light is fitted with a cast metal base, reminiscent of a tulip stem, with a blown-glass globe mounted on top and a very simple cylindrical switch. Thanks to its visual consistency, the Stemlite collection makes it possible to combine different luminaire models in residential, collective or commercial spaces. The organic shape of the lights works equally well in bold, modern spaces and more classic environments.
