Gubi's Bestlite BL3 floor lamp was designed in 1930 by Robert Dudley Best, a British designer strongly influenced by Bauhaus. The design of the Bestlite lamp was first adopted by garages and technical services of the Royal Air Force because of its high functionality.Public demand for Bestlite lamps quickly followed and when Winston Churchill personally chose the Bestlite BL1 table lamp for his desk, Bestlite's iconic status was achieved. This contemporary classic is now part of the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London. The Bestlite design remains close to its industrial roots and true to its original design. Its clean lines and elegant expression are combined with the great functionality of the adjustable arm, both horizontally and vertically, and the movable shade. Available in a variety of finishes, Gubi's Bestlite BL3 floor lamp works as a reading lamp in any contemporary home where stylish lighting is required.
