Description

The Bestlite BL3 floor lamp by Gubi was designed in 1930 by Robert Dudley Best, a British designer heavily influenced by Bauhaus. The design of the Bestlite lamp was first adopted by Royal Air Force garages and technical departments because of its great functionality. Public demand for Bestlite lamps soon followed and, when Winston Churchill personally chose the Bestlite BL1 table lamp for his office, Bestlite's iconic status was achieved. This contemporary classic is now part of the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London. The Bestlite design remains close to its industrial roots and true to its original design. Its clean lines and elegant expression are combined with the great functionality of the adjustable arm, both horizontally and vertically, and the movable shade. Available in a variety of finishes, the Bestlite BL3 floor lamp from Gubi works as a reading lamp in any contemporary home where stylish lighting is desired.
