The result of a collaboration between designer and blacksmith Sebastien Summa and DCW Editions, BL12 is a sculptural pendant designed to light a large dining room table. Cleverly arranged in a trompe l'œil style, this suspension is made up of twelve borosilicate glass tubes, only one of which, operating like a power station, is the source of light, the other tubes relaying its diffusion by refraction and prism. No wires, LEDs or aluminium structures are visible. NL 12 thus evokes a celestial beam that is both radical and poetic.
To perfect the aesthetics of the suspension NL12, Sebastian Summa designed a pair of gymnastic-like brackets to suspend it from the ceiling, calculated to perfectly balance the bundle of tubes. The fixed fittings add a touch of post-industrial athleticism to the overall package, and are the sign of an obviously hand-crafted tour de force.

Founded in 2008 by Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler, the French company DCW Editions specializes in the design and reissue of lighting and furniture designs. Its goal is to give a second life to objects that have left their mark on the past. The objects reimagined by DCW Editions share key traits: they are well-designed, thoughtfully created, and expertly crafted. “C’est l’amour des objets qui nous a guidé dans l’aventure de DCW. Everyday objects, reliable in use, honest, well-designed, and well-made. Objects that we treat with care, and sometimes even with affection. It’s a way of living and seeing the world.”
