Jonathan Muecke approaches both furniture and sculpture with the goal of uncovering and expressing the inherent logic of his materials. The Muecke Wood Table was born from his desire to celebrate all the characteristics of wood, including the end grain. He achieved this by rounding the wood into dowels and devising a joinery system to connect them where they overlap. “You can understand the piece of wood,” he says. “It’s not disguised. It’s there for you to understand again and again.” This table celebrates the natural beauty of wood. Rounded dowels pass each other on nearby planes and are connected by a floating tenon joint. This distinctive joinery is repeated throughout the collection. The table is available in multiple sizes and is part of the Muecke Wood Collection.
