Description

Designed by Robin Day, RFH is a collection conceived in 1951 to furnish the Royal Festival Hall in London. And Tradition has worked closely with the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation to reissue iconic models for the first time in decades. Presenting a soft, welcoming character, the RFH RD8 armchair features a curved backrest and outward-folding armrests. This seat was radically different from what was available on the market at the time. Only a handful of the original Royal Festival Hall armchairs remain today, one of which is in the permanent collection of MoMA in New York. A very rare piece in a private collection in the north of England served as a model for the development of the new edition. Adding a layer of comfort, the RFH RD8 armchair's upholstered seat and irregularly shaped back cushion contribute to its contemporary aesthetic and are offered in high-quality fabrics.
