After being out of production for several decades, the
small CH22 armchairby
Hans J. Wegner has been reissued by
Carl Hansen & Søn since 2016. At first glance, you might notice the large wooden back with visible caps, so characteristic, but on closer inspection of the armchair, more of Wegner's distinctive details become apparent, such as on the armrests or on the seat weave.
Although production has naturally modernised, today the
CH22 armchair is still made using the same principles of craftsmanship as when Wegner followed and helped make the first examples in
Carl Hansen's family workshop in 1950. In the meantime, modernisation has improved precision so that the front legs, which were originally round, can now have the same profile as the back legs of the chair. This means that the legs of the
small armchair CH22 are now made as Wegner originally drew them on his technical drawing.
