The S 64 PV leather chair was created by Marcel Breuer for the Thonet brand. It's a variation on the design icon, the famous cantilever chair made in 1928-1930. Easily navigating between different decorating styles, the S 64 fits perfectly in both a resolutely modern room and a space where different styles and eras meet. The S 32 cantilever chair and the S 64 variant with armrests are undoubtedly the best-known tubular steel classics.
With its chrome-plated steel frame and upholstered, leather-covered seat, the Thonet S 64 PV chair is timeless and durable, matching any interior style.
Architect and furniture designer, Marcel Breuer, born in 1902 in Hungary, had a strong influence on the Bauhaus school, where he was a brilliant student. After a year in Paris working for an architect, he returned to the Bauhaus, where he ran the carpentry workshop from 1925 to 1928, combining art and technology. During this time, he created his tubular steel collection, including the B3 chair, better known as the Wassily Chair, published by Knoll. This armchair is now recognized as one of the icons of modern design. After a brief stint in London from 1935 to 1937 with Isokon, one of the first modern design manufacturers in the UK, he emigrated to the United States. Marcel Breuer taught at Harvard’s Architecture School and worked as an architect in collaboration with Johnson and Paul Rudolph, and later Walter Gropius. He was the first architect in history to exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

THONET
Thonet is today a pioneer in furniture design worldwide. The German furniture manufacturer is a family-owned company with a prestigious history. Shortly after its inception, Thonet became a major furniture maker with a global distribution network, always working with famous designers such as Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer, and later Stefan Diez or Naoto Fukasawa. Indeed, the furniture from the Thonet brothers began to have commercial success, particularly thanks to the famous Vienna Café chair Thonet. It was created in 1859 and is considered one of the most successful industrial furniture designs globally.
