Description
Designed by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina, Sengu Bold is a modular sofa designed with open, generous shapes to encourage conviviality.
The Sengu Bold sofa stands out for its different and unconventional compositions, all united by natural materials and colours, and obtained by combining modules of different sizes - central, corner and end, with or without armrests - also allowing the insertion of a sleeper and footstool, for extreme relaxation. To ensure well-being and durability, the padding of the cushions placed against the backrest is made of blown recycled PET fibre, developed thanks to the study carried out by Cassina LAB, a collaboration between the Cassina Research and Development Centre and Poli.design at Politecnico di Milano.
With a bold, striking character Sengu Bold rewrites absolute comfort with welcoming volumes and high-quality finishes.

Patricia URQUIOLA
Born in Oviedo in 1961, Patricia Urquiola attended the Faculty of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Polytechnic School of Milan, where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni as her thesis supervisor. She was his assistant at the Polytechnic School of Milan from 1990 to 1992. From 1990 to 1996, she worked in the product development department for De Padova, where she collaborated with Vico Magistretti. In 1996, she became head of design at Lissoni Associati. In 2001, Patricia Urquiola opened her own design studio, where she works on design, installations and architecture. In 2005, together with her colleague Eliana Gerotto, Patricia Urquiola developed a collection of lighting for Foscarini. Their Caboche pendant, ceiling, floor and table lamps reinterpret the 1960s plastic bracelet-style crystal chandelier with pendants. After several European boutiques, she has just designed the interior architecture of the sublime Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona. Patricia Urquiola designs both outdoor furniture, with the Pavo real armchair, and accessories for Alessi.

Founded by Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda near Milan in 1927, the Cassina brand is famous for editing the iconic Le Corbusier armchairs, among other exceptional pieces of furniture. Cassina also produces chairs, tables, armchairs, sofas, beds, wardrobes, and designer bookshelves. Cassina produces furniture of exceptional quality, inspired by industrial design in Italy.
