Description
The timeless wall lamp BL5 was designed in 1930 by Robert Dudley Best, a British designer strongly influenced by the Bauhaus school. The design of the Bestlite lamp was first adopted by Royal Air Force garages and technical departments because of its great functionality. Public demand for lBestlite lamps soon followed and, when Winston Churchill personally chose the Bestlite BL1 table lamp for his office, the iconic status of Bestlite was achieved. This contemporary classic is now part of the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London. The Bestlite BL5 wall light remains true to its industrial roots and original design. With its adjustable arm, both horizontally and vertically, and movable shade, the Bestlite BL5 wall lamp from Gubi is well suited to the office, as a bedside lamp or in the kitchen where light needs to be directed.
