Saint-Jean d'Angély Campus in Nice: Amphi 0, a new teaching space designed by Silvera

In October 2025, Université Côte d'Azur inaugurated Amphi 0, a new 94-seat lecture hall on its Saint-Jean d'Angély campus in Nice. Fitted out in a former forecourt access space, closed since 2018 for safety reasons, the venue was entirely redesigned to become a bright, accessible and resolutely contemporary room.

With a total budget of 939,019.31 €, the project was supported by several partner companies through the apprenticeship tax, including Silvera, which contributed to the lecture hall's furniture fit-out.

The Jean-Paul Gomis et Associés architecture firm, based in Nice, designed this transformation with a clear ambition: to make Amphi 0 a modern, sustainable teaching tool, capable of meeting the current needs of higher education.

The project addresses two challenges. On one hand, absorbing the campus's high occupancy rate by increasing capacity for lectures, conferences and events. On the other, creating a space that fosters proximity between teachers and students, while integrating seamlessly with the site's existing architecture.

The result is a lecture hall conceived as a hybrid learning space, where technical performance and quality of use come together within a single environment.

The room thus features a large USB-C-connected projection screen, a tailored sound system and individual power outlets at every seat. The project also incorporates advanced environmental solutions, including a natural night cooling ventilation system, as well as sustainable materials certified Cradle to Cradle Silver, reflecting a strong commitment to responsible design.

In this context, Silvera acted as the project's furniture partner, contributing to the fitting out of Amphi 0. This involvement forms part of a wider effort to support higher education institutions through the apprenticeship tax, alongside regional economic players.

The furniture selected fits within the project's overall philosophy: combining comfort, ergonomics and durability to provide learning conditions suited to contemporary uses.

To equip the lecture hall, Silvera supplied tiered seating from Italian brand LAMM, recognised for its expertise in lecture hall and conference room seating.

The E4000 seats, fitted with a tip-up system with automatic return, feature an ergonomic backrest designed to follow the anatomical shape of the spine, ensuring proper support during extended use.

Made from multi-ply wood with a natural or two-tone laminated finish, they combine sturdiness with a warm aesthetic. Each seat is equipped with an individual power outlet, allowing users to stay connected throughout lectures and conferences.

With their clean lines and anthracite shade, this tiered seating blends into the room's overall architecture, in dialogue with the project's light-coloured woodwork. It thus contributes to the modernisation of the lecture hall and to improving the conditions offered to Université Côte d'Azur's students and teachers.

By supporting Université Côte d'Azur in the creation of Amphi 0, Silvera reaffirms its commitment to higher education institutions, offering furniture solutions that combine comfort, performance and environmental responsibility.
