Rue de la Mer: A sand-colored and curvy house in Deauville

A family home under the Normandy sun

Summer fades, but the light of Deauville lingers. On Rue de la Mer, just steps from the beach, Silvera, in collaboration with Katz Studio, presents a sand-toned family home dressed in a soft palette of beige, caramel and brown. Textured concrete walls echo pale oak floors, warmed by walnut and softened by alabaster. Rounded arches open each room onto the next, letting the Normandy light flow from one space to another. Interior architecture and furniture move as one: the furniture doesn't dress the space, it follows its curves.

Right at the entrance, a white spiral staircase sets the tone, almost sculptural in appearance. Follow it up to the bedroom alcoves, where the same continuity of lines and materials continues. As you move through the rooms, designer furniture selected in collaboration with Silvera sits alongside custom-made pieces and a beautiful collection of contemporary art.

Spaces: from curve to curve

At the heart of the home, the living room and dining room are connected by a wide archway. The Sesann sofa by Gianfranco Frattini, produced by Tacchini and upholstered in brown bouclé, faces two Pacha armchairs by Pierre Paulin, reissued by Gubi in burnt caramel velvet. In the dining area, a light-colored concrete oval table is surrounded by Pigreco chairs, designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1959 and reissued by Tacchini, under a pendant light by Gino Sarfatti.

The home’s charm is also revealed in its little nooks. In the master bedroom, a rounded alcove serves as a bookshelf, where the Découpage Disque vase by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra adds a splash of bright red. Right next to it, the Mushroom armchair by Pierre Paulin for Artifort invites you to read. A little further on, a desk fits snugly into a niche: a few wooden shelves, a Gropius CS1 chair from Noom Home, and a graphic artwork by Bernar Venet come together to create a workspace that is as unobtrusive as it is inviting.

Opening onto the garden through large French doors draped with linen curtains, the second living room is bathed in light. The Mags modular sofa, designed by Hee Welling for Hay, displays its generous lines in a cream-colored fabric dotted with colorful spots. Opposite it, the Soriana armchair by Afra and Tobia Scarpa, produced by Cassina, offers its enveloping silhouette in dusty pink, surrounding a custom-designed coffee table made of smoked eucalyptus.

The Silvera Approach

This home was designed in close collaboration with Silvera. Tacchini, Gubi, Cassina, Hay, Artifort, and Vitra: each piece of furniture was carefully selected, the right model, the right finish, and the right fabric, from brown bouclé to caramel velvet. More than just a selection, Silvera brings a discerning eye and in-depth knowledge of the collections. The result: an interior where design icons find their natural place, blending custom-made pieces with contemporary art, to create a home that reflects a particular way of living.
