Description

VL 56 is a refined suspension designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen and edited by Louis Poulsen. The VL 56 suspension was designed for Folkets Hus, in Vesterbro Copenhagen. Originally built for a Danish trade union, the building opened in 1956 and is now used as a concert hall named Vega. The suspension VL 56 is one of the Vilhelm Lauritzen lamps designed for Vega and, to this day, it hangs above the bar next to the concert hall. Louis Poulsen is reintroducing the chrome and brass versions in 2023, with slight adjustments and improvements. The suspension VL 56 emits a glare-free light directed downwards. The perforations around the opening create a beautiful pattern on the shade and surrounding surfaces, while providing a softer transition between light and dark. The brass surfaces of the VL 56 are not treated. The surface will change over time and take on a beautiful patina.
