Designed by Jacopo Roda, an engineer who is part of the research and development team at Fontana Arte, the collection of Oort luminaires consists of a uniform, flexible line of light positioned inside a fluted glass cylinder. These tubular elements can generate an infinite system of compositions and shapes, which can be combined at will to meet every architectural and aesthetic need.
The borosilicate glass of the Oort luminaire is fluted on the inside, a feature that enhances the light by making it warm and welcoming, brings out the effect of light and shadow and allows easy cleaning of the smooth outer surface. Sculptural, the Oort table lamp is as beautiful lit as it is unlit.
Luigi Fontana was founded in Milan in 1881 and specialised in the production of glass panels for the construction industry.
In 1931, the FontanaArte brand was born and achieved instant success, with the 0024 pendant light by Gio Ponti, who was artistic director of FontanaArte at the time. The Bilia table lamp followed with its timeless design thanks to the perfect balance of its dimensions and the understated elegance of the non-reflective materials used. FontanaArte installed a new oven - the only one in Italy - designed to produce glass panels of all curvatures, in order to inject new momentum into the production of prestigious furnishings.
