Designed in the 1930s by German goldsmith Christian Dell, the Kaiser Idell lamp was characteristic of the Bauhaus movement. Fritz Hansen produces this lamp, whose special feature is its diffuser with its characteristic shape and its worldwide-patented ball joint. The lampshade is made of high-quality steel and hand-painted in bright colours. The chrome-plated parts of the lamp are made of hand-polished brass. The Kaiser Idell lamp is now recognised as a design classic. The lamp's style became established worldwide in the 1960s while it sat on the desks of famous inspectors from TV soap operas such as the German series "Der Kommissar", which earned it the nickname of the "inspector's lamp". The Kaiser Idell collection is available in various versions, from floor lamps, desk lamps, and pendant lamps to wall lamps.
