Designed by Sami Kallio for And Tradition, the In Between table is a blend of traditional craftsmanship, involving compression moulding and woodturning as well as innovative veneering techniques. As such, it is a tribute to Kallio's Nordic heritage and training in woodworking, as well as his modern sense of Scandinavian simplicity. As part of his “Between Gaps” series, the designer proposes to explore the correlation between an object and its environment. Designed to go with the chairs in the same collection, the In Between table can also be easily combined with all styles of chairs. The In Between table from And Tradition is available in round or rectangular versions and in various sizes.
Sami Kallio, born in 1975 in Helsinki, Finland, grew up in Sweden, where he honed his skills in traditional wood crafts such as compression moulding and woodturning. He graduated from the Göteborg School of Design and Crafts in 2005.An award-winning designer with a studio based in Gothenburg, Sami Kallio designs furniture and interiors that translate classic forms into contemporary expressions with an industrial aesthetic that resonates with a modern-minded audience.Both man and machine play a part in many of Kallio's creations. The fusion of modern industrial manufacturing methods with traditional techniques. The result is a refreshing balance between past and present. Sami Kallio has taken part in a number of exhibitions, and the furniture collection 'The Finnish Blood In Me', which was presented at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2011, caused quite a stir.
