The Vipp456 armchair is a comfortable piece made up of a powder-coated aluminium frame with padded armrests. Rounded corners and soft dark brown leather trim add softness to the robust die-cast structure. The dark brown leather trim has unique visual features. Inspired by the monochrome architecture and interior of the Vipp Shelter, the Vipp456 armchair has similar attributes, expressed through the choice of solid materials and dark tones for the leather upholstery.
The story of Vipp began in 1939, in the small Danish town of Randers, when Marie asked her husband Holger Nielsen to create a trash bin for her new hair salon. Holger, a skilled craftsman with a keen sense of aesthetics, wanted to impress his wife and thus put all his talent into creating a pedal bin that was both functional and elegant. The bin, which he named Vipp, was never intended to be sold. However, some of Marie's clients were so impressed by its functionality that they ordered it for their husbands' medical offices and dental clinics.
