Airy and enhanced with construction details that reference Japanese tradition, the
Torii seats play with their rounded volumes, the lightness of their proportions, and the apparent formal simplicity of a highly structured design. Through the shape of the metal frame base of the seats and small tables, Nendo evokes the "torii," the gates that provide access to Japanese Shinto shrines. Thanks to a clever system of interlocking elements, the horizontal components rest on vertical supports, ensuring great visual lightness while perfectly accommodating the couture-inspired upholstered volume. The
Torii collection by
Minotti includes sofas, armchairs, small armchairs, an ottoman, coffee tables, and a slim oval console that can be freely placed in living spaces. This structured range of products allows for the creation of flexible configurations, where individual elements can be matched to create a strong visual unity.
The slim backrest features vertical tufting and piping along the edges of the upholstery, elements that emphasize the haute couture spirit of
Torii. The seats can be equipped with a leather magazine holder crafted using techniques traditionally employed in luggage making, enhanced with metal details that recall the base. The end of the horizontal metal element of the legs is designed almost as if its role were to hold the backrest and seat in place, a subtle nod to the principles of Kigumi, a traditional Japanese wood joinery technique. Forming a perfect circle, the fixed and swivel armchairs are designed to meet various needs, both in terms of functionality and ergonomics, across their different categories. The seats — available in Bergère, Large, Medium, and Small versions — as well as the small dining and lounge armchairs, are the result of in-depth research to best express the sophisticated simplicity of the
Minotti collection.
