Designed in 1994, Hermann Czech’s chair marks a turning point in modern furniture towards intimacy and a reverence for memory: a contemporary design that seems to belong to another era. It offers a natural continuity with the Thonet style of the late 19th century. The Czech chair combines the harmony of steam-bent beechwood with clean, abstract lines, enhanced by the various available finishes. Solid and durable in appearance, Czech also comes in an upholstered version, with or without armrests. The seat frame, bent from a single continuous piece of wood, is supported by a curved base that provides stability and strength. The glides are made of synthetic material.

Gebrüder Thonet Vienna originates from a family of successful furniture makers during the industrial era. Michael Thonet, the founder, worked with wood and transitioned from laminated wood techniques to the use of steam-bent, round-sectioned wood. Formal elegance, durability, and lightness determined the success of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, which, in just a few years, opened production sites worldwide. A unique production process rooted in a rich history of influences.
