Designed by the GamFratesi duo for the Gubi brand, Violin is a collection of elegant, lightweight and contemporary chairs that perfectly illustrates the design duo's expertise, creativity and understanding of materials. The name refers to the two parallel lines that run from the backrest to a horizontal bar beneath the seat, evoking the strings of a violin, or even a tuning fork. The musicality of the name resonates with a chair that evokes a musical instrument in its geometry, symmetry and craftsmanship. Other details, such as the soft lines on either side of these parallel bars, imbue the chair with a distinctive expression. Refined details give the Chaise Violin its aesthetic signature as well as functional support for the backrest. The tapered frame supports a generous, rounded seat and a wrap-around backrest that extends to support arms, elbows or hands. The shape of the backrest makes it easy to move around and is still very comfortable, even after a long dinner. Available with an upholstered seat combined with a wooden backrest, or in a more voluminous version where both the seat and backrest are upholstered, the chaise Violin has a clear silhouette and a strong identity, finding its place in both contemporary interiors and communal spaces. With its low weight, the Chaise Violin is easy to move and its open structure gives it an airy feel.

The GamFratesi studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. GamFratesi is part of the latest generation of furniture designers, and together they represent a new interpretation of Danish and international design. GamFratesi's designs draw their creative impetus from the fusion of tradition and renewal, as well as from an experimental approach to materials and techniques. With their respective cultures, they draw their inspiration from Danish furniture and Scandinavian craft traditions, but also from Italy's timeless conceptual and intellectual approach. Thanks to this multi-cultural partnership, GamFratesi creates furniture pieces that reflect tradition while presenting unique stories, symbols and associations, often expressed in a minimalist style. The GamFratesi duo works with some of the biggest names in design, including Gubi, with the Bat collection and the now famous Beetle chair, Hay, with the Silhouette sofa, and also Minotti, Dedon and Fontana Arte.
