Angie is a seating collection composed of a leather element that embraces the armchair while supporting the structure, like a sculptural bustier, whose interior is characterised by the welcoming softness of the seat and backrest. The apparent simplicity of the shape hides a cutting-edge technological process that has made it possible to produce both the differentiated foam padding and the saddle leather bustier. With the Angie collection, the GamFratesi studio has worked on the notion of contrast by juxtaposing the rigid structure of the saddle leather element with the softness of the padded part which also reveals itself on the back. This combination allows interesting colour combinations between saddle leather and fabric. The legs are made of tin-coloured die-cast aluminium. A special bow-shaped structure connects the rear legs, underlining the curvature of the saddle leather shell. The Angie de Minotti collection consists of an armchair, accompanied by a footrest, and a small armchair, both with the same characteristics but in different proportions.
The GamFratesi studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. GamFratesi is part of the latest generation of furniture designers, and together they represent a new interpretation of Danish and international design. GamFratesi's designs draw their creative impetus from the fusion of tradition and renewal, as well as from an experimental approach to materials and techniques. With their respective cultures, they draw their inspiration from Danish furniture and Scandinavian craft traditions, but also from Italy's timeless conceptual and intellectual approach. Thanks to this multi-cultural partnership, GamFratesi creates furniture pieces that reflect tradition while presenting unique stories, symbols and associations, often expressed in a minimalist style. The GamFratesi duo works with some of the biggest names in design, including Gubi, with the Bat collection and the now famous Beetle chair, Hay, with the Silhouette sofa, and also Minotti, Dedon and Fontana Arte.
