The Superleggera chair takes its name from its exceptional lightness, achieved through the use of ash, a light, elastic wood that makes up its structure, and its slim, triangular-section legs. Ash is combined with a beech seat frame, which is more compact and resistant. The wooden elements of the Superleggera chair are carefully machine-worked and finished by hand, blending craftsmanship and industrial innovation to create a "primary object" inspired by traditional Chiavari chairs. The Superleggera chair by Cassina is available in its classic version with a wicker seat, but is also available with an upholstered seat.
