The small Vipp711 Open Air chair is inspired by the very first Vipp chair, the Vipp451 chair. Featuring a solid aluminium frame, rounded rattan-covered armrests and an upholstered backrest, the small Open Air armchair retains a light, graphic silhouette. Like its original counterpart, the small Open Air armchair stands out for its airy expression and functionality, thanks to its comfortable cushion made from water- and UV-resistant textile.
The story of Vipp began in 1939, in the small Danish town of Randers, when Marie asked her husband Holger Nielsen to create a trash bin for her new hair salon. Holger, a skilled craftsman with a keen sense of aesthetics, wanted to impress his wife and thus put all his talent into creating a pedal bin that was both functional and elegant. The bin, which he named Vipp, was never intended to be sold. However, some of Marie's clients were so impressed by its functionality that they ordered it for their husbands' medical offices and dental clinics.
