Description

Designed by Japanese designer Sori Yanagi in 1954, Butterfly Stool published by Vitra, combines oriental shapes with the plywood bending technique devised by Charles and Ray Eames. The curved silhouette of the two seat shells evokes the wings of a butterfly, ready to take flight. The Butterfly Stool consists of two identical curved shapes in moulded wood veneer, joined by a brass bar and two bolts. The result is a seat whose shape is reminiscent both of Shinto 'torii' boxes and of a butterfly in flight, from which the elegant stool takes its name. The tabouret Butterfly Stool by Vitra is therefore the result of a successful meeting of Japanese and Western influences. Butterfly Stool, a poetic and timeless little stool, is a must-have for our contemporary interiors. This stool can be used in a wide range of environments, in the bathroom or as an extra seat in the living room. The shape and style of the Butterfly stool make it a timeless and unique creation. The Butterfly Stool features one of the hallmarks of Japanese art: refinement. It is available in rosewood or maple.
