Inspired by classic bistro furniture, the Belleville collection takes its name from the Parisian district where designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's studio is located. The series consists of contemporary chairs and tables with a dynamic and refined look, but with a certain tradition. The table, available in round, square or rectangular versions, has a slender base in die-cast aluminium with a black epoxy finish, combined with a top in oak veneer or solid laminate. The 200cm long rectangular table is made with a solid wood top. Combined with the chairs in the same collection, the Belleville table by Vitra is equally at home in a domestic space - a kitchen or a dining room - as in a public place, such as a restaurant. The laminated version is also suitable for outdoor use.
Born in 1971 and 1976 in Quimper, France, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec pursued their studies at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École nationale supérieure d’arts in Cergy-Pontoise, respectively. In 1999, the brothers teamed up to establish a design studio in Paris. Their work spans the creation of home accessories and objects (vases, tableware, jewelry…), furniture for the home and office, as well as architectural projects that involve spatial planning and design. Among their standout creations, the "l'Algue" for Vitra, is a modular design that, when assembled, forms an asymmetrical and poetic room divider. Alongside designers like Jasper Morrison and Hella Jongerius, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec play a key role in the growing Vitra Home Collection. In recent years, they have also collaborated with brands like Alessi, KartellandNanimarquina designing pieces such as the Losanges rugs. Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec have earned numerous accolades, including Designer of the Year at Maison et Objet Now! in 2011, the Grand Prix du Design from the City of Paris in 1998, the New Designer Award at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York in 1999, and the Finn-Juhl Prize in Copenhagen in 2008. VITRA
Vitra was founded in 1950 by Willi Fehlbaum and Erika Fehlbaum. The design furniture company Vitra is based near Basel, Switzerland. Starting in 1981, the design brand Vitra grew and opened many subsidiaries worldwide. The founders had spotted Eames Lounge Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames during a trip to New York, USA. They were immediately captivated and therefore requested a license to produce these pieces of furniture in Europe. In 1956, Vitra acquired this license, which became one of the keys to the brand's success.
