Coffee Table ATLAS 82x82 Gris du Marais NEW WORKS

Named after the mythical Titan condemned to hold up the heavens on his shoulders, the Atlas coffee table rests on solid legs that stand firm beneath its generous top. Designed by John Astbury for New Works, it is shown here in Gris du Marais marble with its subtle mineral tones.

The meeting and contrast between legs and tabletop lie at the heart of the design, each element exaggerating the other to give the Atlas coffee table its distinctive presence and brutalist feel. Astbury draws on architectural history, from porticoes to colonnades, building above all on the archetypal post-and-lintel construction.

Paired with simple geometry, the circle and the square, these primary archetypes shape a coffee table that feels both timeless and bold. To care for the Atlas coffee table by New Works, simply wipe it with a soft dry or damp cloth, avoiding abrasive tools and strong cleaning agents.
