Floor Lamp ARCO FLOS

The Arco floor lamp has become a great classic of contemporary lighting and design. Created in 1962 by brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for publisher Flos, this direct-light floor lamp is anchored in a block of Carrara white marble and has a telescopic stem in satin-finish stainless steel. This allows the height of the light to be adjusted from 137 to 171 cm from the floor. The diffuser is made of polished cast aluminium which is coated with a transparent protective lacquer. Perforated at the top, it scatters studs of light across the ceiling. The Arco lamp reflects the analytical approach of the brothers Castiglioni. The marble block that makes up the base of the Arco footstool has bevelled edges to prevent injury. A hole was cut in the marble block to allow the lamp to be transported. More than 50 years after its creation, the Arco floor lamp remains a timeless piece in the world of decoration. Still published today by Flos, Arco is an elegant luminaire that attracts and diffuses soft light in your living spaces. Like a symbol, the Arco floor lamp also illuminates MoMA's permanent collection.
