Born in São Paulo, brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana studied industrial design at the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture before founding their own studio. Their unique approach to design is based on repurposing handcrafted objects and recycling industrial waste, which they transform into functional and poetic pieces.
From 1989 onward, their work was featured in numerous exhibitions, marking the beginning of their international recognition.
In 1997, their encounter with Massimo Morozzi, artistic director of Edra, launched a fruitful collaboration, and in 1998, their Vermelha armchair, produced by Edra, became a true success.
The Campana brothers create handmade pieces often displayed in prestigious galleries and museums around the world. They have also become ambassadors of Brazilian design, collaborating with renowned brands such as Alessi for table accessories like the Blow Up baskets, O Luce for lighting, and Cappellini for furniture.
In 2004, a retrospective dedicated to them at the Design Museum in London marked their global success.
Their creations draw deep inspiration from Brazilian culture and urban landscapes, particularly the favelas and urban chaos. The Campana brothers celebrate their country’s social diversity through colorful and innovative works that blur the boundaries between art and design.
Their work combines beauty and humility, transforming simple materials into meaningful objects.
