Description
Fritz Hansen reissues the Vico Duo chair for the 100th-anniversary of Vico Magistretti. The designer created this chair in 1997, sitting among sketches in the design department at Fritz Hansen. He wanted to collaborate with the brand, to benefit from its expertise in veneer. The chair has a simple design with narrow lines. A freely drawn 'Z' line on the sketch inspired the back of the chair's armrests - an unusual element that intentionally balances the design. The armrests and the legs at the rear are made of a single piece of steel - another unique aspect of design. Fritz Hansen combines beauty and functionality with this elegant stackable veneer chair.
Vico Magistretti was an Italian designer born in Milan in 1920 and died in his native city on 19 September 2006. He completed his architectural studies in 1945 and then joined his father's studio, where he took part in numerous architectural and design projects. His first professional recognition came in 1948, when he won the Grand Prix of the VIII Triennale. It was at the end of the 1950s that he created the Carimate wooden chair (for Cassina). Since then, Vico Magistretti has produced a string of bestsellers for major design houses including Artemide, Cassina, B&B Italia, O-Luce and Kartell. His work features in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art. His style is characterised by a search for simplicity. The Atollo lamp, created in 1977, with its almost abstract geometric simplicity, is emblematic of Magistretti's formal research. He teaches and lectures at a number of architecture faculties and design schools both in Italy and abroad, from Milan to New York, via Paris and London, a city with which he has particularly close links and where he has been an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art since 1983.

FRITZ HANSEN
Fritz Hansen also works with contemporary designers such as Jaime Hayon, and always favours furniture with simple, sleek and functional forms made from natural and comfortable materials. This hallmark, which goes hand-in-hand with the Fritz Hansen ethos, is now combined with that of emerging designers who have injected new energy into the brand. Today, Fritz Hansen's philosophy is interpreted by young, brilliant and talented Danish designers, as well as internationally renowned designers. In addition, pieces resulting from new collaborations with Fritz Hansen are designed with utmost respect for the brand's history and origins.
