Sestiere
vases perfectly combine contemporary design with the age-old craft techniques of Murano glasswork. Thought up by designer Patricia Urquiola for
Cassina, these
colourful vases are designed with a sphere of blown glass almost imprisoned in a latticework of strings. These strings, also known as "morisa", are delicately laid by hand on the outside of the vase and are decorated with the striped "rigadin" motif typical of the Muranese tradition. The bright colours of tradition meet a sleek, precise and graphic design. The
vases Sestiere perpetuates traditional glass craftsmanship while bringing a contemporary interpretation, paying a vibrant tribute to Venice. The name of the collection refers to the six districts that make up the city. Each
vase is authenticated by the
Cassina logo sandblasted onto the bottom of its base. The
Sestiere vase collection harmoniously combines the two aesthetic languages of glass and rope, creating unique pieces of great beauty, a testament to the skill and passion of Murano's craftsmen.
