Tiptoe was founded in 2015, modernizing and reinterpreting a defining concept of French design: the modular table leg. With this first product, the brand set out to create a universe of beautiful, functional, and durable products that are thoughtfully designed and expertly crafted.

Tiptoe sees itself as the heir to a distinguished lineage of French designers who have shaped the history of furniture with their free and avant-garde vision. The first modular leg concept was introduced in 1972 by François Arnal with the "serre-joint T9" table leg. In 1982, Philippe Starck reinterpreted the concept for a project with Les 3 Suisses, followed by Philippe Nigro who proposed his own take on the system with the T.U. table in the 2000s.
