And Tradition publishes the Momento collection, created by renowned artist and designer Jaime Hayon. Momento - 'moment' in Spanish - is a playful collection of home décor items designed to encourage us to slow down and savour life's simple pleasures.
"Momento has something to do with love, it has something to do with this idea of giving yourself a little moment of pleasure. These are objects that are already part of your life - objects that you want to have close to you," explains Hayon.
Momento embodies simplicity and total versatility and at every moment, it enriches all the little rituals of everyday life. The Momento collection includes a jug, a candlestick and two vases; each is the result of a reflection that combines Hayon's sculptural language and signature colours.
The Momento candlestick pays homage to the classic form of the candlestick, historically designed to be carried from room to room, with an aesthetic that is both nostalgic and contemporary. Cast in slip and enamelled with precision by artisans in Portugal, the Momento candleholder is available in four colours inspired by the works of art of designer Hayon. Designed to add a splash of colour to residential and hospitality environments, the Mento candleholders fit the common tapered candle size and create a warm, friendly ambience when lit.
Born in 1974, Jaime Hayon studied design in Madrid and then Paris, and now divides his time between London, where he lives, Barcelona, where his team is based, and Treviso, home to his production workshop. Heir to Dalí and Almodóvar, his baroque universe is a hybrid blend of art, decoration, crafts and industrial design. He has designed washrooms that look like dressing tables for ArQuitects, moccasins for Camper and candleholders for Baccarat. He works with some of the biggest brands: Bosa (the Bubbles lamp), Lladro (The Masquerade collection of candlesticks), Magis (the Pina armchair)... The Showtime collection for BD Barcelona is surely one of his best-known, with its intriguing, eye-catching leather upholstered armchair. Jaime Hayon claims a return to style as a unique and singular signature. The "Almodóvar of Design", as some people call him, has already, in just 5 years, had a retrospective exhibition at the Kortrijk Design Biennial in Belgium, and a monograph published by the German publisher Gestalten. He is considered by The Times Magazine and Wallpaper Magazine to be one of the most influential designers of the last decade. His creations retain the know-how of traditional craftsmanship while adding his own unique, whimsical style.
