Floor Lamp AKARI UF4-L10 VITRA

In 1951, Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi created the Akari Light Sculptures, a collection of truly unique handcrafted lighting pieces, produced by Vitra. These paper sculptures form part of the designer's already highly diverse body of work, spanning furniture through to the design of all kinds of spaces. Noguchi's sculptural style takes into account, alongside material and form, the harmony each piece creates with the space it occupies, allowing him to leave a lasting influence on organic design since the 1950s. Vitra Akari lamps – a Japanese term meaning light or brightness – evoke a certain sense of lightness and delicacy, echoing the handcrafted paper parasols and lanterns that inspired their design. Each light, including the Akari UF4-L10, is handmade: the lamp's frame is formed from bent bamboo rods, wrapped in fine strips of washi paper glued to the structure. The body of the floor and table lamps rests on an elegant painted steel base. This Akari UF4-L10 floor lamp is offered as a pre-owned piece.
