Arne Jacobsen's
Fourmi chair is an icon that looks a bit like the shape of a
fourmi with its head raised. Arne Jacobsen originally designed the
Fourmi chairs for the canteen of Novo Nordic, a Danish pharmaceutical company, in 1952. Today the
Ant chair is one of the dominant icons in the
Fritz Hansen collection. Although the shapes are minimalist, the
Fourmi is an extremely comfortable chair. It is a stackable chair mounted on a four-legged base made of satin-finish stainless steel tube. The shell is made of die-cast veneer — seven layers of inner veneer and two layers of outer veneer at the bow and stern of the shell.
